Background
Africa's strongest defence against future pandemics is a health workforce that is trained, connected, and prepared. The African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth) strengthens health systems by connecting health professions' schools across Africa through education and collaboration.

Through its STRIPE HIV programme, delivered with UCSF and funded by PEPFAR and HRSA, AFREhealth has trained over 4,400 participants across 50 institutions in 14 countries and adapted its interprofessional model for COVID-19. The Pandemic Preparedness Certificate (PPC) builds on this experience by equipping frontline providers with skills in disease surveillance and risk communication.
