Open Call to Host the Annual Symposium for the African Forum for Research and Education in Health (AFREhealth)

This call is for institutions that are interested in hosting the AFREhealth Annual Symposium.

Roles of the Host

  1. Take overall responsibility for all arrangements towards the symposium including procurement of services, conference venue, logistics and supplies, and scientific program
  2. Constitute a team who will form the Local Organizing Committee (LOC) to assist with preparations for the symposium. The LOC must commit time on a monthly basis to plan and organize logistics of the conference
  3. Mobilize resources for the successful organization of the symposium.

Announcing the James Hakim award

The late scientist Dr James Hakim will be memorialized through an annual award to be established in his name, supported by @AFREHealth, @CUGHnews & Fogarty. Each year the James G Hakim award will provide an African health trainee or early-career health professional with funding to cover registration & travel to the annual CUGH meeting, where they will be recognized for their achievements. The inaugural award will be given in 2022.

Center for Dissemination and Implementation of the Institute for Public Health at Washington University in St. Louis

The HIV, Infectious Disease and Global Health Implementation Research Institute (HIGH-IRI) will provide mentored training for Dissemination & Implementation research focused on HIV, Infectious Diseases and Global Health.

Eligibility:

  • Post-doctoral students and early career researchers addressing Infectious Diseases, HIV, or Global Health.

Tampere ImmunoExcellence (TIE) is a multidisciplinary platform for vaccine-related epidemiologic, public health and immunobiology research at Tampere University. TIE creates a dynamic, interdisciplinary research environment for strong preclinical, clinical and post-licensure vaccination-related research, including breakthroughs in understanding the immune system and evaluating the population impact and safety of immunization programs. 

The post-doctoral position will focus on epidemiologic and public health research related to vaccines and vaccination. It is affiliated with the Health Sciences Unit (HES) in the Faculty of Social Sciences.
