Message from the President

Message from the President

Our mission is clear: to build the AFREhealth we envision—a community-driven, resilient, and impactful organization that stands as a pillar of African health leadership. The “AFREhealth we want” is one that is strong, self-sustaining, and unwavering in its commitment to improving health outcomes across the continent. This vision goes beyond what any funding source can provide. While we acknowledge and value the important support we’ve received from partners like the NIH, we remain steadfast in our belief that AFREhealth’s strength and future do not rest on funding alone.

AFREhealth is more than an organization; it is a movement, a unified voice of African health professionals, researchers, educators, and advocates. Together, we are shaping health systems, advancing research, and inspiring the next generation of leaders in African health. I am privileged to work alongside our dedicated Governing Council and Executive Committee members, whose expertise and vision will help us drive our common mission forward. I have complete trust in their leadership as we navigate this new chapter.

But to achieve our ambitious goals, I am calling on each and every one of you. AFREhealth’s success depends on the engagement and contributions of our entire community. Whether through collaboration, mentorship, research, advocacy and so on, your involvement is crucial. Together, we will ensure that AFREhealth remains resilient and continues to thrive as a driving force for health transformation across Africa.

Let us move forward, united by our vision of building the AFREhealth we want, and committed to shaping a healthier, more equitable future for our continent.
Thank you for your dedication, trust, and partnership as we embark on this journey together.
With warm regards and in solidarity,
Prof Nelson K. Sewankambo
