The Technical Working Group (TWG) brings together health practitioners from various disciplines interested in monitoring, evaluation, and impact assessment. It provides the platform for collaboration, networking and sharing international best practices. The TWG supports the AFREhealth and its members to monitor and evaluate its programs to assure quality and impact.
The main aim of the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) TWG is to promote interest and build capacity of AFREhealth and its members on M&E. The TWG provides technical assistance for tracking AFREhealth progress, strengthening AFREhealth’s capacity to monitor, and evaluating progress, in implementing and achieving the AFREhealth Strategic Plan outcomes.
Functions
The scope of work of the TWG includes the following:
1. Advocate for the integration of robust M&E systems in health policies and programs.
2. Provide technical assistance and support for monitoring, evaluation and accountability within AFREhealth, and the implementation of the activities in the M&E Framework
3. Support/provide technical assistance on M&E to AFREhealth and its members.
4. Provide technical assistance and guidance on improving effectiveness of M&E and information systems within AFREhealth.
5. Identify system bottlenecks and appropriate solutions; and make recommendations to appropriate stakeholders.
6. Build or enhance capacity of AFREhealth members on monitoring and evaluation through training.
7. Building partnerships with other institutions and organizations in Africa
8. Develop a robust and feasible framework for M&E for AFREhealth
9. Identify ways to measure other areas which warrant further attention.
Membership and meetings
The M&E TWG is open to any member of AFREhealth. The M&E TWG convenes once every quarter.
