Prof. Samuel Ajayi MBBS (Ib), M.Sc, FWACP, FMCP, FRCP(Lond), ISN Fellow Graduated in Medicine at the University of Ibadan and had postgraduate training in Internal Medicine/Nephrology at the University College Hospital, Ibadan from 1991-1997. He was appointed Consultant Physician/Nephrologist and Head of Department at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital in April 1998 and rose to the rank of Chief Consultant. He moved to the Department of Medicine, University of Ibadan in 2013.
He is currently a Professor of Medicine. He had Nephrology Fellowship training under the auspices of the International Society of Nephrology at the Leicester General Hospital, UK, in 2000/2001. He is a Fellow of the International Society of Nephrology. He is also a foundation Fellow of Kidney Research UK. He served as Assistant Secretary of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology from 2010-2014 and Secretary from 2014-2018. He was Editor of Tropical Journal of Nephrology.
He is on the executive committee of the Nigerian Association of Nephrology as President-Elect of the Association. He is also a member of the Nigerian Society of Hypertension, International Society of Nephrology, and International Society of Hypertension. He is a member of AFREhealth and the Lead for the Monitoring and Evaluation Working Group. He is a co-PI of STRIPE in Nigeria. He is a reviewer for both local and international journals, including reviewing abstracts for AFREhealth conferences. He is an assistant pastor and loves choral and classical music.
