Chabuca Sunza Antonio - Lurio University

Chabuca Sunza AntonioMy name is Chabuca Sunza Antonio. I am now a Pharmacist but during IPE Virtual Elective Program experience I was still a student. The institution where I attended the course is Universidade Lurio (Lurio University) Health Science Faculty.

At Health Science Faculty, I was doing pharmacy science. What motivated me to join the IPE Virtual Elective Program was the the fact that its goals were the same as mine; which is to prepare health professional students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for collaborative interprofessional practice. This was my unique opportunity to join the group that aimed to develop skills and attitudes which are really necessary for the deep collaborative interprofessional practice.

I have learnt that when the health professionals are working together to bring up solutions for public health the solutions are wise. When health professionals are struggling together to solve public health problems, the solutions are more comprehensive and wiser. For example, I learned that when a pharmacist works together with a nutritionist and doctor, the patient has more to gain because the doctor discovers the problem, the pharmacist says the ideal drug indication for the situation and the nutritionist will say which nutrients and foods the patient should ingest. I have learnt how to work in a group and how to listen to other opinions. I also learnt and improved my proficiency in the English Language.

The key lessons I learnt during the IPE are how to be a good health professional, how to be useful in an interprofessional team, etc. I’ll carry this knowledge, skill, and value into my future practice so that I can be a blessing for my patients and for my work colleagues.
Thank you for the experience I loved it.
