Andrew Dykens

Andrew Dykens, MD, MPH is an Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC), a core member at the UIC Center for Global Health, and a NIH funded researcher who studies the implementation of sustainable cervical cancer screening programs in Senegal and other non-communicable diseases globally. Andrew is the Founding Co-Director of the Capacity Strengthening Platform at the Consortium of Universities for Global Health, a global initiative that aims to facilitate institutional partnerships focused on strengthening healthcare training capacity by connecting locally identified human resource gaps to existing resources. Andrew is a Returned Peace Corps Volunteer (Mauritania 1997-99) and a Rotarian at the Rotary Club of Chicago. 

Andrew lives in Chicago with his wife, Lauren, and their daughters, Sevilla Dabel and Eliana Allison. Andrew loves observing the little moments of growth when his girls overcome some seemingly insurmountable challenge, he plays enough music to annoy neighbors and dreams of someday harmonizing with his girls, and to stay active he enjoys backpacking and maintaining a competitive pace through the first and last 100 meters of a very occasional triathlon.
