The AFREhealth HPER & IPE TWGs: Promoting inter-professional education and HPE research in sub-Saharan Africa
Duration: 90 minutes
AFREhealth has operationalized its functions through the creation if TWGs that bring together likeminded people into one forum. Key of these groups are the HPER and IPE TWGs that are aimed at promoting health professions education research as well interprofessional education in the region. These two TWGs have some points of convergence as they eventually aim at improving the training of health professionals to better serve the needs of the communities through evidence-based approaches as well inter-professional collaboration.
This satellite session is to introduce participants to the functions and core mandate of the HPER and IPE TWGs within AFREhealth as well as interest members to join any of these important TWGs as we seek to improve HPE in the region.
By the end of the session, participants shall be able to
- Explain the core mandate and objectives of the HPER & IPE TWGs of AFREhealth
- Identify the points of convergence between the HPER & IPE TWGs
- Identify key activities/achievements of the HPER & IPE TWGs overtime
- Make an informed decision to join one or both of the HPER & IPE TWGs
- Identify ways of strengthening the two TWGs
This shall be a strongly interactive session with active discussions from participants in which ideas generated shall be used to strengthen the HPER/IPE TWGs and also recruit new members. Short presentations shall also be given on what the TWGs are, core mandate and functions and a highlight of key activities carried out.
