Prof. Mosepele Mosepele

He is an Associate Professor of internal medicine and infectious disease at the University of Botswana and a research associate at Harvard T. H. Chan School of Public Health and works as a clinical researcher and clinician, with time spent practicing as an internist and infectious disease specialist at Princess Marina Hospital in Botswana. 

Mosepele also serves as a member of the Ministry of Health HIV Guidelines Committee and the Ministry of Health Advisory Council to the Minister of Health in Botswana.  His research has addressed HIV-associated opportunistic infections, non-communicable diseases and metabolic complications of HIV, ART treatment failure and HIV-associated drug-resistant mutations in Botswana.  He has been involved in numerous international trials and am the National PI on the recently completed AMBITION Trial (ISRCTN72509687) that evaluated an alternative treatment approach to cryptococcal meningitis in people with HIV (PWH), the ongoing REPRIEVE Trial (NCT02344290), which will evaluate the use of Pitavastatin to reduce the risk of Cardiovascular Disease in HIV-infected Adults and the WHO Solidarity Trial evaluating the efficacy of COVID-19 treatments. 

He currently mentors several local and international researchers and have experience in providing local mentorship to US-based researchers, including a K01 Mentee. Mosepele is committed to research capacity building that improves the quality of life of people living in sub-Saharan Africa (SSA)- so, the proposed training plan is in line with this mission
