Dr. Marybeth Maritim
Dr. Marybeth Maritim is a Consultant Physician and Infectious Disease/ Tropical and Travel Medicine Specialist who is currently working as a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Clinical Medicine and Therapeutics, University of Nairobi (UON) Faculty of Health Sciences.
She is an alumnus of the AFREhealth Professor James Hakim Leadership Development Program in Africa, the inaugural class of 2021. She has over 17 years of clinical experience in the case management of tropical and infectious diseases at the Kenyatta National and Mbagathi County Hospitals and has trained, supervised, and mentored several postgraduate and undergraduate students in her area of expertise.
She is a passionate health advocate championing access to safer health products and technologies for tropical and infectious diseases including safer therapies and vaccines.
Marybeth is currently serving in several national advisory and technical committees within the Ministry of Health in Kenya including the NASCOP Advanced HIV Disease sub-committee, HIV Guideline Review Committee, the Viral Hepatitis and STI technical working group, the Kenya National Immunization Technical Advisory Group (KENITAG), the Kenya National Vaccine Safety Advisory Committee (KNVSAC) and is a member of the Nairobi County Antimicrobial Stewardship Interagency Committee (CASIC).
She is a member of several local and international professional organizations including the Kenya Medical Association, Kenya Association of Physicians, HIV Clinicians Society of Kenya, Infectious Disease Society of Kenya, International Society of Travel Medicine, American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene among others.
