Narcisse Patrice Joseph Komas

Professor Narcisse Patrice Joseph Komas is the Research Director of the Pasteur Network and Associate Professor at the University of Bangui; the head of the Viral Hepatitis Laboratory at the Institut Pasteur de Bangui. He holds a Doctorate in Pharmacy from the Université Cheikh Anta Diop de Dakar (Senegal), a PhD in Cellular and Molecular Pharmacology, and the "Habilitation à Diriger les Recherches (HDR)" from the "Université de Strasbourg, France. He has also completed a post-doctoral internship in the Cellular Metabolism Laboratory at NHLBI/NIH in Bethesda, USA, and worked at the Biotechnology Research Institute in Montreal (BRI/NRC), Canada, and the Center for Synchrotron BioSciences/Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Brookhaven National Laboratory in Long Island, USA.. Prof. Komas has focused extensively on cyclic nucleotide phosphodiesterases and has shared his research and teaching activities at the Institut Pasteur de Bangui and the University of Bangui since February 2004. He has also contributed to highlighting the burden of viral hepatitis on the population of the Central African Republic over the last 20 years through his extensive work in molecular virology and epidemiology. Pr KOMAS has established solid collaborations with teams in Africa, Europe, and the USA in the field of liver diseases. Prof Komas is the co-principle investigator for PROVE in the Central African Republic.
