Join Us for The AFREhealth COVID-19 Webinar Series
This webinar will explore the increasing prevalence of people who have been infected with COVID-19 and who now present with Long COVID” or post-COVID syndrome. Participants will hear from two physiotherapists who themselves are living with Long COVID, about their daily challenges and how they are managing in their daily lives. Participants will also be provided with evidence-based information on the prevalence and pathology of Long COVID, as well as a closer look at the cardiopulmonary complications associated with the condition.

AFREhealth leadership, in collaboration with UCSF, is developing a Moodle type learning management system (LMS) to be used by all AFREhealth member institutions. Although already included in AFREhealth’s strategic plan, the LMS became an urgent priority with the challenges brought on by the Covid19 pandemic. The AFREhealth LMS server is currently hosted by UKZN, its configurations are completed, and STRIPE HIV modules are being uploaded on the site. This webinar introduced the vision for the use of the AFREhealth LMS and highlighted innovations in remote and e-learning developed by STRIPE schools. Experiences of piloting a STRIPE HIV course on an LMS; and a preview of STRIPE HIV module/s on AFREhealth’s new LMS was also shared.

Showcasing STRIPE HIV work from South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi and Lesotho
Introduction: Starting in 2019, a team from AFREhealth and the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF), led by Amb. Goosby and with funding from Human Resources and Services Administration (HRSA), embarked on a project: Strengthening InterProfessional Education to Improve HIV Care Across Africa (STRIPE HIV). STRIPE HIV aims to build health workforce capacity across Africa to achieve HIV epidemic control. It has also sought to reshape how health professions training is delivered, emphasizing the importance of team-based learning as an instructional approach to prepare for effective, collaborative work within a cohesive group. This webinar will showcase the achievements, results and lessons learnt of STRIPE-HIV. Participants will hear how the training has been done in various countries, and learn about various innovations that has been implemented.
