Dr Jibril Abdulmalik

Dr Jibril Abdulmalik, is a Senior Lecturer with the Department of Psychiatry, College of Medicine, University of Ibadan and a & Consultant Psychiatrist with the University College Hospital, Ibadan.
He is passionate about Public Mental Health; with a focus on Mental Health Advocacy and Stigma Reduction, as well as the successful integration of mental health into primary care. Dr Abdulmalik contributes a weekly column, ‘Your Mental Health & You’ for a national daily,  The Nigerian Tribune on Thursdays, since 2016. In 2019, he published a book titled “Optimal Mental Health:  An Everyday Guide”….which was a collation of his weekly Tribune articles over 3 years.

He is also the Founder of the Asido Foundation, a Not for Profit Mental Health Advocacy organization, which promotes mental health awareness and combats stigma and discrimination (www.asidofoundation.com).
Since 2014, he has served as an Associate Editor with the International Journal of Mental Health Systems (IJMHS), and has published 81 peer-reviewed articles and has worked in mental health for the past 17 years.
He has had extensive experience, working on several international projects as a Co-Investigator and Project Consultant with the World Health Organization, CBM Australia and on European Union funded projects amongst others in different parts of the country. He has also served as Mental Health Consultant to the West African Health Organization (WAHO).
