  1. 2001 December: Best clinical paper presented and best overall presentation price: University of Zimbabwe Medical School Annual Research Day. Paper presented: “Trend of ocular surface squamous neoplasia at Sekuru Kaguvi Eye Unit in Zimbabwe”.
  2. 2013 appointed “Adjunct Professor” for Kosin University College of Medicine, South Korea to date.
  3. 2017 Award by Later Day Saints Charities, US for philanthropic work in Zimbabwe.
  4. 2017 August the Zimbabwe Medical Association Award in recognition of outstanding practice and service in Ophthalmology in Zimbabwe.

Achievements during the first term as Dean:

  1. Instrumental in the introduction of 7 new undergraduate training programmes in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
  2. Instrumental in the introduction of 10 new postgraduate training programmes in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences.
  3. Transformed and restructured the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences from the College of Health Sciences.
  4. Initiated the construction of the Quinary Hospital and its satellite clinics (Oral Health Centre and Eye Health Centre)
  5. Engagement of several partners through MOUs like PSMI for use of West End Clinic for clinical training.
  6. Accreditation of all new programmes by Zimbabwe Council of Higher Education (ZimCHE).

Other notable achievements:

  1. Published over 50 papers in scientific journals.
  2. Successfully supervised 19 postgraduate research projects for MMed Ophthalmology candidates.
  3. Instrumental in establishing the University of Zimbabwe Optometry training programme 2017.
  4. Presented over 30 scientific papers at International Conferences and forums.
